Duo de Salzburg play exquisitely for the Johannesburg Musical Society
by moirads

"Yvonne Timoianu and Alexander Preda have been a duo since 1985 and have now played over 1500 concerts throughout the world. Their experience, connection and stunning musicality leaves the audience blessed.
The connection between the two performers Alexander Preda and Yvonne Timoianu, is magical.

The works which formed the programme for the Johannesburg Musical Society started with a Divertimento (“Amusement”) in D by Joseph Haydn. From the outset I was entranced by their playing. .....

....Yvonne Timoianu has arranged Schubert’s melancholy Winterreise for cello instead of voice in a work entitled Winter Journey Suite. This was very touching to hear the music without the words of the famous lieder. ....

We were then treated to a “musical dessert” like Mozartkugel chocolates, but not fattening” in a series off arrangements from The Magic Flute, entitled Enchanted … Papageno. It catches the whole Salzburg theme so beautifully and it was a light, fluffy and attractive ending to a concert which left me thoroughly charmed."
